BATON ROUGE, La. – Convicted thief and former bondsman Vallery “Val” Thierry was arrested again on Tuesday for allegedly committing forgery, according to new arrest documents.
Thierry, previously investigated by WBRZ for filing fake bonds through his business, Extreme Private Investigation and Bail Bonds, attempted to access a records service in February 2025 using an expired Louisiana Private Investigators License. Court documents state he altered the license to change its expiration year from 2022 to 2026 and submitted it alongside his driver’s license and a mortgage bill.
Initially claiming his computer had been hacked, Thierry later admitted to physically altering the license to conduct background checks. He was booked on one count of forgery.
Thierry’s criminal history includes a 2022 case where a woman paid him $2,060 to bail her son out of jail while his license was expired and suspended. He kept the money, prompting a complaint to the Louisiana Department of Insurance. Investigators discovered he had executed bonds in 18 cases while unlicensed. Thierry was indicted on 18 counts of filing false public records and one count of felony theft on Aug. 18, 2022.
An Army veteran, Thierry was placed in Veteran’s Treatment Court. In September 2024, he pleaded guilty to felony theft as part of a plea deal, with other charges dismissed. He received a suspended five-year prison sentence, three years of supervised probation, mandatory mental health treatment, and was ordered to pay $2,060 in restitution to the victim.
Court records indicate Thierry was scheduled for an exit meeting in October 2024 and a case review on Nov. 11, 2025.
