Delhi Police have arrested five individuals in connection with the murder of businessman Vaibhav Gandhi near his factory in Bawana on February 9. Authorities said robbery was the likely motive, though Rs1 crore in cash remained untouched in Gandhi’s car.
The arrested suspects are:
Arun, 37, bus conductor
Sandeep, 28
Sanjay, 54, alleged mastermind
Ravinder, 42, driver of another businessman
Harish Kumar, 45
Incident Details
Gandhi was traveling from his Karol Bagh residence to his factory when three men intercepted his car near the Bawana premises. The attackers fired at Gandhi, leaving him critically injured. They fled with three bags containing his diaries, laptop, and mobile phone.
Police confirmed that the suspects conducted reconnaissance of Gandhi’s factory multiple times in January and February to plan the attack. Harish Kumar monitored police movement during the shooting, while Arun, Sandeep, and Sanjay carried out the firing.
Arrest and Recovery
Ravinder and Sanjay were initially apprehended from Sultanpuri and interrogated.
Based on their disclosures, Sandeep and Harish were arrested.
Arun was later apprehended after a police encounter during which he fired at officers. Authorities seized a .32 bore pistol, two empty cartridges, and a stolen bike from him.
Both Arun and Sandeep have prior criminal records, while Sanjay was identified as the mastermind with 60 previous cases across Delhi and Uttar Pradesh.
