The Sultan Bazar police have arrested two individuals for allegedly cheating multiple victims by falsely promising government double-bedroom (2BHK) houses in Hyderabad using forged documents.
The accused have been identified as Usikela Vijay (35), a finance collection agent, and Ambam Murali (54), an electrician. Both are residents of Nizamabad, police said.
According to investigators, the duo targeted unsuspecting people by claiming they had strong connections that could help secure government-sponsored 2BHK houses in and around Hyderabad. To gain trust, they reportedly produced fake and forged documents, convincing victims to part with money under the pretense of processing fees and official formalities.
Several victims later realized they had been duped when the promised houses never materialized. Following complaints, Sultan Bazar police launched an investigation and arrested the accused. Further inquiries are underway to identify additional victims and determine the total amount collected through the scam.
Police have urged the public to remain cautious and verify claims related to government welfare schemes through official channels before making any payments.
