in a continued crackdown on drug trafficking, police in Baramulla and Srinagar arrested four individuals and seized significant quantities of heroin and charas in separate operations.
In Baramulla, SHO Sheeri and his team intercepted Usama bin Ramzan, son of Mohammad Ramzan Lone of Fatehgarh, at a forest checkpoint near Gantamulla Payeen. The search led to the recovery of 50 grams of charas.
In another operation, police at Kralhar stopped a two-wheeler (JK05M-6980) and recovered 30 grams of heroin-like substance from Bashir Ahmad Bhat, son of Haji Ghulam Qadir Bhat of Umar Colony, Ushkara.
Elsewhere in Baramulla, Amir Khan, son of Mehboob Khan of Bagatpora, Handwara, was injured in a road accident near Sadderbal. Police found 2.5 grams of heroin on him during the subsequent investigation.
Meanwhile in Srinagar, police at Bemina Chowk apprehended Manzoor Ahmad Dar, son of Mohammad Sultan Dar from Chandil Wanigam, Tangmarg. Dar was found with a substantial quantity of charas, Rs19,600 in cash, and a mobile phone.
All suspects have been taken into custody, and the respective cases have been registered under the NDPS Act. The vehicles involved in the offenses have also been seized.
Police continue to urge the public to report any suspicious drug-related activities by dialing 112 or visiting the nearest police station.
