The Uttar Pradesh Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) arrested three active drug traffickers in two coordinated operations, seizing narcotics worth over Rs3.10 crore, officials said on Tuesday.
Under the guidance of the DGP of Uttar Pradesh, and supervision of the ADGP (Law and Order) and IG, ANTF, teams from Gorakhpur, Meerut, and the Prayagraj operational unit executed the raids successfully.
ANTF’s Gorakhpur unit apprehended two traffickers and recovered 530 grams of heroin, valued at Rs1.1 crore in the international market. The accused were identified as Chhedi Yadav (28) from Chakra Awwal, Rajghat police station limits, and Arun Singh (29) from Charanlal Chowk, Durga Badi Road, Gorakhpur district.
The duo was intercepted on 16 December near Ekla Mandir on the Gorakhpur–Varanasi road, under GIDA police station limits. Police recovered the heroin consignment, a scooter, two Android phones, and Rs700 in cash. Interrogation revealed that the heroin originated from Tikra Usma Jaitpur in Barabanki district.
In a separate operation, ANTF Meerut and the Prayagraj operational unit arrested an inter-state trafficker carrying a large ganja consignment smuggled from Odisha. The accused, Sonupal, a resident of Dhipa village in Etah district, was apprehended on 16 December near Pandey Ji Dhaba on the Prayagraj–Varanasi highway, under Gopiganj police station limits in Bhadohi district.
From his possession, authorities seized 3.9 quintals of illegal ganja, valued at around Rs2 crore.
Officials highlighted that these operations demonstrate the ANTF’s commitment to curbing drug trafficking across Uttar Pradesh and ensuring strict action against narcotics offenders.
