LAFOURCHE PARISH, La. — A Gheens woman has been arrested for allegedly defrauding the Medicaid program of more than $98,000, officials said.
Uneta Borne, 43, of Pecan Street in Gheens, was taken into custody by agents with the Louisiana Bureau of Investigation. She faces charges of government benefits fraud and filing false public records.
The investigation began after the Louisiana Department of Health submitted a criminal referral to the LBI. Authorities allege that between September 2023 and May 2025, Borne underreported her household income and concealed her marital status to qualify for Medicaid benefits.
As a result, Borne is accused of defrauding Medicaid of more than $98,000. She was booked without incident at the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.
Her bond information has not been released.
