In its continued crackdown on narcotics, Srinagar Police arrested two alleged drug peddlers and seized a substantial quantity of contraband from their possession on Monday.
The arrests were made by a team from Police Station Chanapora at a checkpoint set up in the area. The police intercepted a Tempo Traveller (JK02AF-1776) and upon inspection, recovered narcotic substances from the two individuals inside.
The accused have been identified as:
Umer Manzoor Rather, a resident of Natipora, also known locally as Manadev
Yawer Ahmad Bhat, a resident of Baghat Kanipora
Following the seizure, police registered FIR No. 03/2025 under the NDPS Act at PS Chanapora. Further investigation is underway to trace the source and intended distribution network.
Police have once again appealed to citizens for cooperation in curbing drug-related crimes. “Public support is vital to eliminate the drug menace from our society,” said a police official.
