The Uttar Pradesh Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF), in collaboration with Jhansi police, apprehended two individuals involved in smuggling morphine from Rajasthan.
The accused, identified as Ukar Lal and Leelabai from Pathki village in Jhalawar district, were intercepted near the Navabad bus stand. Authorities recovered approximately one kilogram of morphine, valued at nearly Rs 1 crore, concealed within their clothing.
City Circle Officer Laxmikant Gautam confirmed the arrests, stating that the duo admitted to transporting the narcotic from Rajasthan to Jhansi. The operation was led by ANTF in-charge Chandan Pandey and Navabad police station in-charge Ravi Srivastava.
A case has been registered at Navabad police station, and officials are intensifying investigations to trace the wider supply chain and network connected to the smuggling operation.
