In connection with the murder of Santosh Mogaveera (31) at Padukere in Kotatattu on December 14, four accused were produced before a Udupi court and remanded to judicial custody. Mogaveera, a local resident and private bank employee, was reportedly killed following a quarrel among friends under the influence of alcohol.

The arrested individuals are Darshan of Parampalli, Kaushik Pandeshwar, and Ankit and Sujan of Padukere, Kotatattu. The arrests followed a complaint lodged by Rajath, a relative of the deceased and eyewitness to the incident, leading the police to register a case of murder.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the immediate provocation involved abusive remarks against family members and a dispute concerning a woman.

Further details are expected to emerge during detailed interrogations, with police likely to seek custodial questioning of the accused to uncover more about the circumstances of the crime.
