OCEAN SPRINGS, Miss. – An Uber driver is facing a serious charge after allegedly running over a disabled veteran during a drop-off dispute on Bienville Boulevard.
The incident occurred Friday morning near the Singing River Training Facility, according to the Ocean Springs Police Department. Authorities say Roderick Keys, the driver, was supposed to take the victim to the Singing River Imaging Center, located a block away from where the drop-off occurred.
Police say the situation escalated when Keys berated the passenger and insisted he walk to his destination. As the victim exited the vehicle and walked in front of it, Keys allegedly nudged him with the car, then drove forward, striking and running him over.
The victim was taken to Ocean Springs Singing River Hospital and was listed in stable condition.
Roderick Keys, the Uber driver involved, has been charged with aggravated assault. His bond was set at $100,000 by Judge Douglas Tynes.
