Tywain Robinson Sentenced to 50 Years to Life for Murder of Isaac Jackson

Robinson found guilty of killing Isaac Jackson, attempting to murder Terrell Williams

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) — Tywain Robinson, convicted of the murder of 24-year-old Isaac Jackson and the attempted murder of 30-year-old Terrell Williams, has been sentenced to 50 years to life in prison. The incident took place in May 2021.

Fresno County Superior Judge Gary R. Orozco described the crime as an isolated act of violence that contradicted Robinson’s otherwise non-violent past. During his trial, Robinson admitted to shooting the two men through the door of his southeast Fresno apartment. The two had come to check on Jackson’s niece, who was in a relationship with Robinson. Robinson claimed the shooting was in self-defense, but the jury disagreed.

Judge Orozco reviewed the trial, which concluded in October, explaining that while Robinson tried to portray Jackson as a threat, the evidence showed that the victims were calm and simply checking in on the situation. Prosecutors argued that Robinson pursued the men as they fled to their car, continuing to shoot at them. Jackson was killed while sitting in the passenger seat. The judge emphasized that Robinson showed “no mercy” in his actions.

“He chose to continue acting and fired at the two men trapped in that confined space,” Judge Orozco stated.

After the shooting, Robinson fled the scene and was arrested in Oregon more than a year later. In court, his defense attorney, Scott Baly, said Robinson expressed remorse for the tragedy. However, Jackson’s family rejected this claim.

“I saw no remorse. None at all,” said Jackson’s aunt, Vickie Keller, tearfully. Jackson’s cousin, Shevah Decker, added, “I ask that you treat him as he treated my cousin: with no mercy and no remorse.”

Robinson received a sentence of 50 years to life for the first-degree murder of Jackson, with an additional life sentence for the attempted murder of Williams. He could be eligible for parole in the future. Jackson’s family continues to honor him as a kind and loving person.
