NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) — A convicted felon is back behind bars after leading Metro Nashville Police on a chase in a stolen vehicle early Sunday morning.
Police say Tyson Oglesby, 33, was spotted recklessly driving a stolen Cadillac Escalade near Dickerson Pike and Hancock Street. The vehicle had been reported stolen from Brentwood.
When a police sergeant attempted a traffic stop, Oglesby fled, getting onto I-24. He later exited onto 4th Avenue and pulled into a parking lot, where undercover detectives managed to block him in.
Oglesby reportedly resisted arrest but was eventually taken into custody. Officers also recovered a semi-automatic pistol on the driver’s side floorboard of the SUV.
Oglesby now faces charges including felony auto theft, unlawful gun possession, and evading arrest. He is being held on a $100,000 bond.
According to police, Oglesby has prior felony convictions for cocaine and firearm offenses in 2020 and 2022. He previously received six- and four-year sentences for those crimes.
Authorities are continuing their investigation into the stolen vehicle and any potential additional charges.
