FOUNTAIN, Colo. — Fountain Police Department (FPD) arrested 32-year-old Tyson Dunckel Wednesday following a liquor store robbery and attempted escape, officials said.

Police responded around 10 p.m. to Klik Liquor Store on Mesa Ridge Parkway, where Dunckel allegedly grabbed several bottles of liquor and fled. An employee pursuing him reported that Dunckel brandished a handgun, threatened the worker, and drove away.

Surveillance footage helped FPD identify Dunckel, who had prior police encounters. The Fountain D.I.C.E. Unit, Colorado Springs Police Real Time Crime Center, and Metro Motor Vehicle Theft Unit tracked the suspect’s vehicle, later confirmed stolen from Colorado Springs.

Authorities located Dunckel Wednesday afternoon at a business on Betty Drive. He attempted to flee on foot while wearing a paintball mask and ski goggles but fell. A handgun reportedly fell from his waistband during the fall.

Dunckel was taken into custody and charged with aggravated robbery, motor vehicle theft, possession of a weapon by a previous offender, and menacing.
