BLOOMSBURG, Pa. (WOLF) — A Bloomsburg man has been convicted in connection with a fatal overdose that occurred after he sold fentanyl disguised as cocaine to a group of students.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania announced that Tysheem Dunlap, 28, was found guilty of drug delivery resulting in death stemming from an August 20, 2022, incident near Bloomsburg University.
According to Acting U.S. Attorney John Gurganus, Dunlap provided what he claimed was cocaine to four individuals — all of whom were either current or former Bloomsburg University students seeking to use the drug recreationally.
Authorities later confirmed that the substance was fentanyl, not cocaine.
Shortly after ingestion, three of the four individuals overdosed. One of the victims managed to call 911, and emergency responders were able to revive two of the overdose victims. Unfortunately, the third individual died as a result.
Lab analysis confirmed that the substance sold by Dunlap was fentanyl.
Dunlap now faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 20 years and a maximum of life in federal prison. Sentencing will be scheduled at a later date.
