Actor Tyrese Gibson, known for his role in the “Fast and Furious” film series, has been charged with animal cruelty after one of his dogs allegedly killed a neighbor’s pet in Atlanta. The incident occurred on September 18 when one of Gibson’s four Cane Corsos attacked and killed a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel belonging to a nearby resident. Reports indicate that the dog had been seen scratching at a door before the attack, and the smaller dog was later found dead behind it.
Gibson’s attorney said the actor was out of town when the incident happened and is fully cooperating with authorities. In a statement, Gibson expressed his condolences to the family who lost their dog and asked for privacy as the case proceeds.
CNN reported that Gibson surrendered to Atlanta police on Friday and was charged with misdemeanor animal cruelty. He was booked and released shortly after posting a $20,000 bond. While his attorney said the dogs involved have been rehomed, police stated that the animals still need to be turned over to authorities for further investigation.
