Henry County, Va. (BTW21) — The Henry County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of two suspects connected to a recent shooting on Old Chatham Road that left an 18-year-old woman hospitalized.
Following an intensive investigation with multiple interviews and evidence collection, authorities have taken into custody:
Ty’Marquis Nashawn Kershaw, 18, of Fredericksburg, VA, charged with:
Malicious Wounding (VA Code §18.2-51)
Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony (VA Code §18.2-53.1)
A 16-year-old male juvenile from Henry County charged with:
Attempted Malicious Wounding (VA Code §§18.2-51/18.2-26)
Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony (VA Code §18.2-53.0)
Possession of a Handgun by a Minor (VA Code §18.2-308.7)
The juvenile’s name is withheld due to his age.
Kershaw is held without bond at the Rappahannock Regional Jail, while the juvenile is detained at the W.W. Moore Juvenile Detention Facility in Danville.
The victim suffered a gunshot wound and was initially transported by private vehicle to SOVAH Health Martinsville before being airlifted to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. She remains in stable condition.
The Sheriff’s Office extended thanks to the Martinsville Police Department, Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources, Fredericksburg Police Department, and Rappahannock Regional Jail for their assistance.
