CHEYENNE, Wyo. — A Cheyenne man is facing felony burglary charges after allegedly stealing a set of master keys from a local Walmart, potentially costing the store tens of thousands of dollars.
Tyler L. Holcomb, 31, was arrested following an investigation by the Cheyenne Police Department into a reported theft at the Walmart on Dell Range Boulevard.
According to an affidavit of probable cause, Walmart’s Asset Protection Team contacted police on April 30 to report that Holcomb had unlawfully entered the store—despite a prior trespass notice—and stole a manager’s master key set. The keys, attached to a pink carabiner on a shopping cart, provided access to the main store and all departments. Walmart estimated it would cost $25,000 to rekey the entire facility.
Surveillance footage and photos captured the incident, and police confirmed Holcomb had previously signed a trespass form in July 2024, prohibiting him from entering Walmart property due to prior conduct. Despite this, he admitted to knowing he wasn’t allowed in the store and told police he took the keys impulsively and left quickly out of nervousness.
Holcomb directed officers to the glovebox of his truck, where the keys were recovered.
He now faces a felony burglary charge, which carries a potential sentence of up to 10 years in prison and/or a $10,000 fine.
Holcomb remains presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
