FARGO, N.D. – A Fargo man is facing multiple charges after authorities say he threatened a woman and her children, then broke into their home through a back window while experiencing hallucinations.
According to court documents, Tyler Cote attempted to gain entry into a home multiple times on the day of the incident. The woman who called police said she had previously allowed Cote to stay with her but kicked him out due to troubling behavior. Two young children were inside the home at the time.
Earlier that day, the woman had driven Cote to Essentia Hospital after he claimed he had missed a Methadone dose and was experiencing hallucinations. When she returned, she found him in her front yard, demanding access to retrieve his phone.
After she refused him entry, Cote allegedly threatened to return with a weapon and kill everyone inside. She locked the doors and called Fargo Police.
While officers spoke with her at the front door, they heard yelling and screaming from inside. They rushed in to find Cote entering the home through a back window. One of the children later told police that Cote pushed in the AC unit to climb through.
Cote was arrested and charged with:
Two counts of terrorizing
One count of criminal trespass
After being read his rights, Cote insisted he had done nothing wrong. Police noted he continued to hallucinate, referencing people who weren’t there and accusing them of mocking him.
While en route to jail, Cote yelled about imaginary people in the back seat, shifted in his seat to avoid them, and claimed someone outside was shooting at the vehicle.
He is currently being held as the case proceeds.
