COLORADO — Tyler Boebert, the 20-year-old son of U.S. Representative Lauren Boebert, has been charged with misdemeanor child abuse following a July 11 incident involving the congresswoman’s young grandson, according to documents obtained by Denver Westword from the Windsor Police Department.
The citation stems from an allegation of criminal negligence where no injury or death occurred, authorities said.
Rep. Boebert addressed the matter in a statement to TMZ, describing it as a “miscommunication” related to monitoring the child, which resulted in him temporarily leaving their home. She confirmed no physical harm was involved and stated that the family has already met with Child Protective Services to ensure the children’s safety.
Tyler, who became a father in June 2023, is already on probation stemming from a 2024 case involving 22 counts linked to vehicle break-ins and property theft. He ultimately pleaded guilty to attempted identity theft, with other charges dropped as part of a plea agreement.
The case remains under review, but no additional legal action has been announced at this time.
