TyKel Keshawn Hutchinson, 19, of Rome, Georgia, and a 16-year-old from Rome, Georgia, have been arrested and charged with aggravated assault and felony murder in connection with the shooting death of 18-year-old Jeffery Tyler Ray on Sunday, August 25, 2024, in Murray County. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) also arrested and charged 17-year-old Keano Nestor, also of Rome, with tampering with evidence.
The incident occurred during an outdoor party at a residence off Sexton Road in Resaca, Georgia. Deputies from the Murray County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of the shooting and found Ray, who had been shot. He was transported to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries. A second victim was also injured, shot in the face, and received medical treatment.
In addition to the arrests, Ray’s body was sent to the GBI Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy.
