Ty’Asia Holmes Arrested for Encouraging Student Fight at LaBelle Middle School

A substitute teacher at LaBelle Middle School has been arrested following a disturbing classroom incident involving students.

Ty’Asia Holmes, 20, was taken into custody by Hendry County School Resource Officers on charges of child neglect and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Her arrest follows the circulation of a video showing Holmes allegedly encouraging a student altercation during class.

According to the Hendry County Sheriff’s Office, the incident came to light during a parent conference on Wednesday, where the video footage was presented. The video shows Holmes permitting students to argue and even suggesting they take their conflict off school grounds.

Law enforcement reports indicate that Holmes allowed one student to summon another into the classroom, facilitating a verbal confrontation. In the footage, Holmes can be heard urging the students to escalate the dispute, which authorities say constitutes incitement.

Holmes faces two counts of child neglect and eight counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor. She was booked into the Hendry County Jail and later released on a $35,000 bond.

School district officials have not yet released a statement on the incident.
