A 26-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a deadly shooting that occurred in Norfolk, Virginia, last year. Ty-Riq Q. Anderson-Gadsden, of Norfolk, was charged with second-degree murder and the use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.
The incident took place on November 4, 2024, when police responded to a call reporting a gunshot victim in the 1300 block of Hanson Avenue. Upon arrival, officers found 66-year-old James E. Fortson Jr. suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound. Fortson was rushed to the hospital but later died from his injuries.
After a thorough investigation, Norfolk detectives identified Anderson-Gadsden as the suspect. He was arrested on April 6 in the City of Suffolk and is currently being held without bond at the Norfolk City Jail.
