Ty Leighton Arrested in Contra Costa Child Exploitation Sting

29-year-old caught arranging meeting with 13-year-old minor

CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, Calif. – As part of a week-long operation targeting child predators, the Contra Costa County Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force, led by the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office, arrested 29-year-old Ty Oliver Leighton on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, for attempting to meet a 13-year-old minor with the intent to commit lewd and lascivious acts.

Leighton, who is already on felony probation, was also found to have an active felony warrant related to a commercial burglary in Brentwood. His arrest involved coordination between the Brentwood, Orinda, and Martinez Police Departments, along with 13 other agencies.

Detectives say Leighton arranged the meeting online and was taken into custody before the encounter occurred. He now faces multiple charges, including:

Attempted lewd acts with a child

Arranging a meeting with a minor for lewd purposes

Attempting to contact a minor with intent to commit a felony

Probation violation

Authorities are releasing Leighton’s photo to the public, urging anyone who may have interacted with him or has relevant information to contact the Brentwood Police Department at (925) 809-7911. Callers may remain anonymous.

Leighton has a criminal record dating back to 2017, with past arrests by Napa PD, Napa County, San Joaquin Sheriff’s Office, and Antioch PD for offenses including:

Inflicting corporal injury on a spouse or cohabitant

Receiving stolen property

Illegal firearm and ammunition possession

Vandalism

Trespassing after warning

Currently, Leighton is being held without bail at the West County Detention Facility. His next court appearance is scheduled for August 8, 2025, at 8:30 AM in Martinez Superior Court, Department 5.

This arrest is part of a larger initiative by the Contra Costa County ICAC Task Force to identify and apprehend online predators. Officials also acknowledged the support of the Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office and partnering agencies that contributed to the operation.
