by Ananya Mehta

Varkala police on Friday arrested two youths for allegedly stealing a motorcycle from the Varkala area. The accused were identified as Rahul (20), a resident of Idukki, and Jayesh alias Vishnu (18) from Sasthamnada.

The motorcycle, owned by Amal Sajeev of Srinivasapuram, was parked near the Kilitthattumukku temple on Sunday night. After discovering the theft, Amal lodged a complaint and also provided CCTV footage that captured the incident.

While searching for his vehicle, Amal later spotted a repainted motorcycle at the Maidanam petrol pump and identified it as his stolen bike. A brief scuffle broke out between Amal and the two accused at the spot.

Rahul was caught and handed over to the police immediately, while Jayesh was later arrested from the Varkala railway station. Police have recovered the stolen motorcycle and further investigation is underway
