In a major breakthrough, Balimi police in Dhenkanal arrested two women, Santoshi Mohanty and Rashmita Jena, involved in a multi-crore fraud within the mineral transportation sector. The accused operated a transport agency and were found to be embezzling high-value materials, including iron pellets, during transit from Dhenkanal to Paradip.

The police launched an investigation after receiving multiple complaints about suspicious activities in the transportation of minerals. Their findings uncovered a systematic scam involving the diversion of valuable goods, leading to the registration of two separate cases at Balimi police station.

Santoshi Mohanty, a resident of Talcher, and Rashmita Jena were tracked down and arrested. After being produced in court, the police believe the scam may involve more individuals, and further investigations are underway to identify additional culprits and recover the stolen materials.

Superintendent of Police Abhinav Sonkar confirmed that the accused are currently in judicial custody, with the possibility of them being brought on remand for further questioning as investigations continue.
