WEST BRIDGEWATER, MA — Two women were arrested Sunday after being caught on video fighting with Market Basket employees over the alleged theft of high-priced meats.

Olivia Byrd, 37, of Quincy, and Rahjane Byrd, 28, of Boston’s Hyde Park neighborhood, face multiple charges, including:

Assault and battery with a dangerous weapon

Assault and battery

Shoplifting

Disorderly conduct

Police say the confrontation occurred at the Market Basket at 352 West Center Street after an employee observed the women allegedly concealing lobster, prime ribeye steaks, and truffle butter. When confronted, the women reportedly became combative, screamed obscenities, and attacked two employees.

Video footage shared with Boston 25 News shows one suspect hitting a worker in the head while the other swung a blue tote bag at another employee as customers looked on.

The Byrds were taken into custody without further incident, arraigned in Brockton District Court, and released on personal recognizance.
