WARREN COUNTY, Miss. (VDN) — A stolen vehicle report in Warren County led to the discovery of a submerged 2020 Ford Expedition and the arrest of two Vicksburg women on charges of insurance fraud and conspiracy.
On March 21, Vicksburg 911 received a call about a stolen vehicle near Goodrum Road and Fisher Ferry Road. Around the same time, dispatchers received another report about a vehicle partially submerged at LeTourneau Landing. A multi-agency response ensued, including the deployment of divers from an Ergon Marine vessel to inspect the vehicle. After confirming the vehicle was unoccupied, it was recovered from the water.
An investigation followed to determine how the vehicle ended up submerged.
On April 1, Warren County Deputy Dusty Keys arrested 52-year-old Heather Kay McCoy of Vicksburg, who had originally reported the vehicle as stolen. She was charged with insurance fraud and conspiracy to commit a felony. Amber Spencer, 45, also of Vicksburg, was arrested on similar charges of conspiracy to commit a felony.
Both women were given $10,000 bonds and were scheduled for their next grand jury appearance.
Sheriff Martin Pace confirmed the investigation remains open, but he declined to comment on whether further arrests are expected.
