CARY, N.C. — Jiyeong Han, 24, and Juyeong Han, 26, two sisters from Morrisville, are facing serious felony charges after they were accused of stealing from a family they worked for as nannies. The sisters, who were employed by Timothy Amrhein and Jill Pappalardi, both medical doctors, allegedly forged checks and stole money from the couple.
The Cary Police Department confirmed that the thefts occurred in November 2024. Jiyeong Han is charged with two counts of felony identity theft, two counts of felony obtaining property under false pretense, and forging a document. Juyeong Han faces two felony counts of conspiracy to obtain property under false pretense and two counts of misdemeanor larceny.
The sisters are accused of forging a $5,000 check in the couple’s name. An arrest warrant for Jiyeong Han alleges that she was responsible for the forgery. The theft was reported on November 24, 2024, when the couple contacted the Cary Police Department about the missing funds.
The women are listed on the Nanny Lane website under the names Michelle and Claire, where one claims to be a nursing student, and both state they have seven years of combined experience in babysitting and tutoring.
Both sisters have bonded out of jail and appeared in court on Thursday, February 8. They face two to three years in prison if convicted. A court date is set for February 27, 2025, for the next proceedings.
Before their court appearance, WRAL News attempted to speak with one of the sisters at her Morrisville apartment, but she refused to share any details about the case.
