Two Portland Teens Arrested for Armed Robbery and Assault at Bug Light Park

One victim hospitalized; police recover weapon used in the South Portland park attack

SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine (WGME) — Two 18-year-old suspects have been arrested following a violent robbery at Bug Light Park in South Portland that left one victim hospitalized, authorities said.

According to police, the robbery occurred last week and involved two victims who were acquainted with the suspects. During the incident, one of the victims was struck with a gun and required hospitalization.

After an investigation, police executed three search warrants, including one at a college, and arrested:

Jeissey Blash Khamis, 18, of Portland

Mogga Wani Yanga, 18, of Portland

Police confirmed they also recovered the firearm allegedly used in the attack.

Both Khamis and Yanga were charged with:

Robbery

Aggravated Assault

Theft

The suspects were booked into the Cumberland County Jail. Khamis was later released on $1,000 cash bail, while Yanga was released on $300 cash bail.

Authorities emphasized that this was a targeted, isolated incident and is not connected to any other ongoing investigations.
