COLUMBUS, Ind. — Two parents were arrested on Sunday evening after a traffic stop revealed drugs and prompted a search that uncovered 25 pounds of marijuana and multiple THC products.
Around 7:03 p.m., a Bartholomew County Sheriff’s deputy pulled over a vehicle on North Indianapolis Road after noticing it was struggling to stay in its lane. Inside the vehicle were Trevor Kennedy, the driver, Justice Goodwin, and their two young children — a 3-year-old and a 4-month-old.
Upon approaching the vehicle, the deputy reported smelling marijuana and observing signs of impairment in Kennedy. A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of 16 pounds of marijuana, over 2,000 THC vape pens, one pound of THC wax, $4,775 in cash, and other marijuana-related items.
The search extended to the couple’s home, where authorities found an additional 10 pounds of marijuana, a firearm, and more THC products.
Kennedy and Goodwin were arrested on charges of drug dealing and neglecting their children. The Department of Child Services has intervened and ensured that the children are now in safe care.
