Police have arrested two more individuals, including a woman, in connection with a Rs 16.3 lakh cyber fraud targeting a city resident, bringing the total number of arrests in the case to seven.
The accused have been identified as Monika and Subhash Chand, a resident of West Delhi. Subhash is reportedly associated with an NGO operating in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, while Monika is the wife of Sushil Dutt, who is already in police custody for the same case.
Both accused were produced in court today. The court sent Subhash Chand to a four-day police remand and Monika to judicial custody.
According to the complainant, he was lured via WhatsApp in September last year with promises of high profits from stock market investments. The accused shared a link, persuading him to download a fake trading application, through which they fraudulently extracted Rs 16.30 lakh in installments.
A case was registered at the Cyber Crime Police Station under Sections 316(2), 318(4), and 61(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita on 20 November. Police continue to investigate the matter and trace the flow of funds.
