The Egmore police have arrested two additional suspects, Manivannan (42) from Arumbakkam and Murugesan (57) from Thiru.Vi.Ka. Nagar, in connection with the murder of Special Sub-Inspector (SSI) Rajaraman, 54, which occurred on the night of July 18.
Earlier arrests included Rakesh, 30, from Neelangarai, and Sarathkumar (alias Ayappa), 36, of Kannagi Nagar.
According to police reports, a drunken brawl erupted between Rajaraman and his friends on July 18. During the altercation, Rajaraman suffered severe injuries and later died without responding to treatment.
The police continue their investigation as the accused remain in custody.
