A police team escorting four arrested drug peddlers to the civil hospital for a medical examination was attacked by two men with a personal rivalry against the detainees. The incident occurred on Monday, when the accused, identified as Ajay Kumar of Satjot Nagar, Dhandhran Road, and Bikramjit Singh alias Ghoda of Phullanwal, attempted to assault the arrested drug peddlers. When the police intervened, the attackers turned their aggression toward the officers.
An FIR has been filed against the two assailants based on the statement of ASI Boota Singh, who is posted with the CIA staff 1. ASI Singh, who had arrested the four men for drug peddling on October 11, was escorting them to the civil hospital for a routine medical examination when the attack took place.
