Salvadoran and Venezuelan men arrested for murders linked to their homeland

by Sophia Bennett

Two men who entered the United States illegally have been arrested for murders they committed in their home countries, the US Immigration & Customs Enforcement (ICE) announced.

On May 6, 2025, in Dana Point, California, ICE Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) Special Agents apprehended a Salvadoran man wanted by INTERPOL for a double murder in El Salvador. The man, identified as a member of the violent MS-13 gang, was taken into custody based on the international warrant.

In a separate incident, the Chief of the US Border Patrol Sector in El Centro, California, revealed the arrest of another man, this one from Venezuela. He was arrested on an INTERPOL “Red Notice” for his involvement in a murder committed in Venezuela.

These arrests follow the May 2, 2025, capture of another Venezuelan man near Dallas, Texas. Anthony Fabian Marin La Torrewa was wanted for the contract killings of four people in Venezuela. ICE reported that he had illegally entered the US near San Luis, Arizona, on September 26, 2022, alongside family members.

These actions highlight the ongoing efforts by ICE and Border Patrol to target criminals who enter the country illegally and are wanted for serious crimes abroad.
