Toronto Police have arrested two men in connection with a fraud and stolen motor vehicle investigation.
On Friday, September 26, 2025, officers responded to a report of dangerous driving near Warden Avenue and Ellesmere Road. Police allege that the two suspects, posing as a food delivery worker and a customer, approached a victim in a parking lot asking for help to pay for a pizza after claiming their debit card wasn’t working. One suspect offered cash for the victim to use their card, while the other provided a stolen point-of-sale machine. During the transaction, the suspects allegedly stole the victim’s credit card and returned a different card.
Officers arrived on the scene during the incident and located the suspects in a stolen Honda Civic. The suspects had disguised their faces and attempted to flee but were stopped. The vehicle had false license plates and contained evidence supporting fraud charges.
Jamal Raja, 21, of Ajax, was arrested and faces 24 counts of failing to comply with a probation order, 21 counts of possessing or using credit cards obtained by offense, possession of forged documents, dangerous operation of a vehicle, and more.
Joshua Mawaka, 18, also from Ajax, was charged with 21 counts of possessing or using stolen credit cards, forgery, possession of stolen property, theft, fraud, and disguise with intent.
Both are scheduled to appear at the Toronto Regional Bail Centre on September 27, 2025.
Investigators believe there may be more victims involved and have released images of the suspects to the public.
