Two men are facing multiple charges following a burglary in Elmont, Nassau County, on Saturday morning. The incident occurred at 11 a.m. on Hoffman Avenue, where Nassau police arrested Luis Ramos and Steeve Severe at the scene.
Ramos, who police report is undomiciled, was charged with burglary, grand larceny, criminal mischief, and possession of burglar tools. Severe, also arrested at the scene, faces charges of burglary, grand larceny, and criminal mischief.
Neighbors in the area expressed their surprise, as the neighborhood is known for its quiet and safe atmosphere. One neighbor, Melanni M., commented, “It’s very quiet around here. I even walk my puppies really late at night… I feel safe here, I would never expect that.”
It remains unclear whether anyone was inside the house at the time of the burglary or who initially alerted the authorities.
