On April 22, 2025, Chennai city police arrested two drug offenders from Assam and seized 25 grams of heroin. Acting on a tip-off received by a sub-inspector of the St Thomas Mount Police station, officers reached a location near the Post Office on GST Road. There, they apprehended Mubarak Ali (28) and Manjul Islam (28), who were caught with the contraband.
The case is being investigated further by Inspector V. Balan. Both accused have been formally arrested and remanded as the police continue their probe.
