DECATUR, Ill. (WICS) — Illinois State Police Illinois Trafficking Enforcement Group (ITEG) announced the arrest of two Decatur men on multiple charges related to human trafficking.

The investigation began on Oct. 23 after the Coles County Sheriff’s Department received a theft report that led to identifying a woman as a potential victim of human trafficking and involuntary servitude. ITEG agents contacted the woman, who disclosed that she had been abused, sexually assaulted, and forced into prostitution by Slater and Miller.

Arrest warrants for both men were secured on Nov. 5. The U.S. Marshals Service Fugitive Apprehension Task Force arrested Miller on Dec. 2, and Slater on Dec. 17, both in Sangamon County.

Slater and Miller are currently being held at the Macon County Jail pending further proceedings.
