DAVENPORT, Iowa — Two Davenport women are being held in the Scott County Jail after police say they were found in possession of a stolen vehicle and methamphetamine.

According to criminal complaints, Davenport Police responded to the 2400 block of Rockingham Road around midnight on Dec. 15 following a report of a stolen car. Officers identified the suspects as Mary Fugate, 48, and Leann Perez, 51.

Investigators allege the women took possession of a vehicle valued at less than $10,000 without the owner’s knowledge or consent, intending to permanently deprive the owner of the car.

Police said Fugate was seen driving the vehicle despite having a driver’s license barred until 2031. During her arrest, officers reportedly found a glass meth pipe with residue and 0.31 grams of methamphetamine.

Perez was allegedly found in possession of 8.99 grams of methamphetamine, packaged in small plastic bags, along with $630 in cash, according to the complaint.

Fugate was charged with third-degree possession of a controlled substance and second-degree theft, along with misdemeanor charges of driving while barred and possession of drug paraphernalia. She is being held on a $5,000 secured bond pending her initial court appearance.

Perez faces felony charges of possession with intent to deliver, second-degree theft, and failure to affix a drug tax stamp. She is being held on a $10,000 secured bond and is awaiting her first court appearance.
