In two separate incidents, Kerala Police seized a total of 123 grams of MDMA from individuals traveling on tourist buses coming from Bengaluru. The seizures were part of an operation conducted by the rural district anti-narcotics special action force, following a confidential tip-off.
Midhun, 35, a resident of Veliyath, Chowara, was arrested at Athani during a routine vehicle check after 90g of MDMA were found hidden in his shoulder bag. In a separate operation, Alwin Francis, 19, from Valliyad, Alappuzha, was arrested at Angamaly after police intercepted a bus on the national highway. Alwin was found concealing 33g of MDMA in his shoes.
Both arrests occurred as part of an ongoing crackdown on drug trafficking. Alwin and Midhun have been charged with narcotics possession, and further investigations are ongoing.
In a related operation, the Excise Department arrested three men at Muvattupuzha on Wednesday evening, seizing 3.28g of MDMA, 5g of cannabis, three mobile phones, and a firearm. Authorities claim the drugs were intended for distribution among college students and individuals in the film industry.
The arrested men were identified as:
Shalim Shaji, 28, from Pezhakkappally
Harish, 27, from Punnoppady Kara
Sajin, 37, from Kadathy
All three men are currently under investigation for drug distribution activities in the region.
