MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Two men were arrested, and two stolen Camaros were recovered after their failed attempts to flee from Memphis Police late Thursday night.

Officers initially spotted a blue Camaro with a suspicious, faded temporary tag that appeared to be a photocopy. When they attempted to pull the car over, the driver sped off. A pursuit ensued, with the blue Camaro circling a gas station parking lot before stopping at a house on Craigmont Drive.

Upon approaching the vehicle, officers saw the driver, identified as Brian Calix, attempt to escape by jumping out of a rear bedroom window. Calix tried to get into the passenger side of a second Camaro, a black model with a fake “SNACKPACK” tag, but was unsuccessful. As he struggled, the black Camaro tried to flee but crashed into a parked car. The driver, Gonzalo Mondragor, was then apprehended.

Both vehicles were found to be stolen, and the black Camaro contained marijuana. Inside the blue Camaro, police discovered paperwork from Juvenile Court bearing Calix’s name. Authorities also recovered marijuana and two firearms from the house.

Gonzalo Mondragor, 22, was charged with motor vehicle theft, evading arrest, reckless driving, drug possession, and falsifying plates and serial numbers. His bond was set at $75,000.

Brian Calix, 21, faces similar charges, in addition to a weapons charge, with a bond set at $70,000.
