The Toronto Police Service has announced the arrest of two individuals in connection with a human trafficking investigation involving minors.

The Human Trafficking Unit launched an inquiry in June 2025 after allegations surfaced that two female victims, aged 14 and 17, were trafficked through deception, coercion, and control.

According to police, the accused managed the victims’ online advertisements for sexual services, including taking and distributing sexualized photos. The victims were transported by the accused to various hotels to meet clients, and all money earned was surrendered to and kept by the suspects.

On August 14, 2025, 22-year-old Tyrique Harmer of Hamilton and 21-year-old Maria Toth-Taddeo of Toronto were arrested in Hamilton and Toronto respectively.

Harmer faces multiple charges, including trafficking persons under eighteen by recruiting and control, possession and distribution of child pornography, advertising sexual services, trafficking in Schedule I substances, and firearm offenses.

Toth-Taddeo is charged with the same offenses.

Both are scheduled for a court appearance on August 14 at the Toronto Regional Bail Centre.
