Two Arrested in Operation Dawn for Drug Trafficking in Banderdewa

Majibur Rehman and Anuwara Begum caught with heroin in a police raid

In a continued crackdown on drug trafficking under Operation Dawn, the Banderdewa Police arrested two individuals, including a woman, for their involvement in the illicit drug trade. The arrests were made on September 18, 2024, following credible intelligence about a major narcotics transaction, according to Mihin Gambo, Superintendent of Police, Naharlagun.

The operation, which was meticulously planned, was led by a dedicated team from the Banderdewa Police, including Kipa Hamak, OC PS Banderdewa, SI Koj Tada, ASI L.P. Mema, Ct. Tade Bomdom, L/Ct Kago Yamung, and L/Ct R. Devi, under the supervision of Paul Jerang, SDPO Naharlagun, and Mihin Gambo, SP Naharlagun.

The suspects have been identified as Majibur Rehman (44) and his wife, Anuwara Begum (35), both residents of Mohguli village, Charmara PS, Nowboicha District, Lakhimpur, Assam.

During the search, conducted in the presence of Oli Koyu, Special Judicial Magistrate (NDPS), the police discovered a soap case containing 13.03 grams of pink powder, which is suspected to be heroin, in the possession of Anuwara Begum.

This operation is part of an ongoing effort to combat the drug mafia in the region and further investigations are underway to uncover more details of the narcotics network.
