The Crime Branch Unit 3 of Virar Police has solved a high-value camera equipment theft case, arresting two men from Navi Mumbai. The accused, Rudra Shrikant Koli (20) and Vivek Rishikesh Singh (24), were involved in the theft of professional shooting gear valued at over Rs11 lakh.

On July 22, 2025, an unidentified man posing under a false identity convinced a Vasai-based complainant to rent expensive camera equipment for a day. While traveling in a car, the accused stopped near Jar Hotel at Virar Phata, where the complainant briefly went inside. The accused then fled with the equipment worth Rs11,16,900. The complainant promptly filed a case at Mandvi Police Station under relevant IPC sections.

The Crime Branch launched an intensive probe, examining over 100 CCTV footage clips across Bhiwandi, Thane, and Navi Mumbai. The team uncovered that the suspects used a WagonR with a fake license plate during the crime.

On July 28, both suspects were arrested in Nerul, Navi Mumbai. They confessed to the theft, and the vehicle was recovered. The accused and the car have been handed over to Mandvi Police Station for further proceedings.
