Old Kamptee police have arrested two individuals, Suresh Shekhawat (23) and Jatin Bagde (22), for their involvement in a mobile phone theft that occurred on April 6 near Bengali Colony. The incident took place when Trishank Deshmukh, a 17-year-old resident of Kamptee, was accompanying a procession and was snatched of his mobile phone by unknown assailants.
Based on a complaint filed by Deshmukh, the police registered a theft case and launched an investigation. The police team carefully examined CCTV footage from the area and identified the suspects. Acting on the evidence, they set up a trap and successfully detained Suresh Shekhawat and Jatin Bagde, both residents of New Kamptee.
During interrogation, the accused confessed to the crime. The police recovered the stolen mobile phone, valued at Rs20,000, along with Rs2,000 in cash from the suspects’ possession.
The operation was conducted under the supervision of DCP (Zone 5) Niketan Kadam, ACP (New Kamptee) Vishal Kshirsagar, and Inspector Prashant Jumde.
