Two individuals were arrested on Tuesday after stolen items worth Rs 2.6 lakh were seized from them. The Kishanganj police recovered gold jewellery worth Rs 2.6 lakh and Rs 5,000 in cash, bringing the total value of the seized items to Rs 2.65 lakh.
The case began on March 11 when Ashok Kumar Sharma, a resident of Hari Nagar Mhow village, reported to the Kishanganj police station that unknown individuals had broken into his home during the day and stolen cash and jewellery worth around Rs 3 lakh. Following his complaint, an FIR was registered.
On March 18, police received a tip-off and arrested Krishna Kant Dwivedi (29), a resident of Mhow. During questioning, Dwivedi confessed to the burglary and revealed that he had sold the stolen jewellery to a local jeweller, Anil Soni (31), a resident of Shri Hari Nagar.
Police then recovered Rs 5,000 in cash from Krishna Kant and seized the stolen jewellery from Anil Soni, which included a gold mangalsutra, a pair of gold earrings, a gold jhumka, and two gold rings, valued at approximately Rs 2.6 lakh.
Legal action has been taken against Anil Soni under Section 317(2) of the BNS for receiving stolen goods.
