Police arrested two suspects following a shootout linked to the fatal shooting of Arun Lohia near CDR Chowk bus stop in Mehrauli. A third conspirator was also apprehended in connection with the case, police confirmed on Thursday.
Authorities suspect the murder may stem from a personal enmity or property dispute, with further details expected after thorough interrogation.
On May 15 at around 12:45 pm, a PCR call reported a firing incident at CDR Chowk. Arun Lohia was shot and rushed to Fortis Hospital, where he was declared dead.
CCTV footage enabled police to identify the accused. At approximately 3 a.m. Thursday, a tip-off led police to set a trap along the Chirag Delhi–Khanpur stretch. The suspects, Deepak and Yogesh, were spotted on a motorcycle. When police attempted to intercept them, they fired at officers, who returned fire, injuring the suspects in the legs.
Police recovered weapons, cartridges, and the motorcycle used during the crime. Subsequently, the third accused, Ajay, was arrested near Asian Market, Pushp Vihar, with a country-made pistol and live ammunition.
Investigations continue to establish the exact motive behind the murder.
