Sambhal Police have arrested two men, Mohammad Danish and Navijan, in connection with a major insurance scam. The arrests were made after a complaint by Sarvesh, whose husband, Mukesh, died from a kidney ailment. The police allege that the accused fraudulently claimed an insurance payout of Rs 9.9 lakh using a fake death certificate.
According to Anukriti Sharma, the Additional SP (Sambhal), the arrested men are residents of Moradabad. They are reportedly members of an interstate insurance fraud gang, which has been active in scamming people by falsifying death certificates and claiming insurance money. The police have arrested 18 individuals related to the gang so far.
The scam involved taking out an insurance policy in the name of Mukesh, Sarvesh’s husband, and later using a fake death certificate to claim the insurance payout. The accused claimed that Mukesh had died of a heart attack, despite the fact that he had been suffering from a kidney ailment with little chance of survival.
Danish, one of the accused, worked as an investigator for an organization called East India Investigating Company. He reportedly concealed Mukesh’s medical documents and helped fabricate the claim. Police say that Rs 9.9 lakh was pocketed by the accused after Mukesh’s death.
This marks another significant victory in the fight against interstate insurance fraud, with the police continuing their investigation to dismantle the gang’s operations.
