CAMERON, N.C. — The Moore County Sheriff’s Office has arrested two men following an investigation into the fraudulent sale of a semi-trailer in the Cameron area.
On April 11, 2025, the sheriff’s office received a report of a semi-trailer that had been acquired under false pretenses. Investigators quickly recovered the trailer and identified Seth Carter, age 37, and James Frye, age 52, as the suspects responsible for the fraudulent transaction.
Arrests and Charges
Seth Carter of Cameron was arrested on April 21 in connection with the fraud. During his arrest, deputies found a small amount of suspected marijuana on his person, and he was issued a citation for simple possession. Carter was charged with felony obtaining property by false pretense and was committed to the Moore County Detention Center without bond. He is scheduled to appear in Moore County District Court on April 23, 2025.
James Frye, also of Cameron, was arrested alongside Carter. During his arrest, deputies discovered suspected methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia in his possession. Frye faces multiple charges, including felony obtaining property by false pretense, felony possession of methamphetamine, and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. He was taken to the Moore County Detention Center under a $6,000 secured bond and is set to appear in court on May 7, 2025.
