FOLSOM — Two individuals were arrested after attempting to purchase a vehicle using stolen identities at a local car dealership.

According to the Folsom Police Department, officers responded on February 3 after dealership staff flagged fraudulent identification. Upon arrival, police found one suspect seated in a silver Lexus outside the dealership, while the second was inside attempting to complete the transaction.

During the investigation, authorities seized nine stolen California driver’s licenses, eight stolen and altered Social Security cards, eight stolen bank cards, methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, and five electronic devices used to facilitate identity theft.

Diego Moreno of Stockton and Jose Castellanos of Modesto were arrested on multiple felony charges, including identity theft, conspiracy, and possession of a controlled substance. Both had outstanding felony warrants from Stanislaus County and Arizona.

The Folsom Police Department thanked the dealership for its vigilance, emphasizing the importance of community partnerships in preventing crime. Officers also reminded residents to protect their personal identifying information and report it immediately if lost or stolen.
